Avengers: Doomsday – Official Full Cast Reveal and What It Means for the MCU
Marvel Studios has finally announced the much-hyped cast of Avengers: Doomsday, which is releasing on May 1, 2026. The announcement, made through a livestream, greeted us with some of our beloved favorite MCU heroes, the warm welcome back of Fantastic Four heroes, and the explosive inclusion of X-Men legends. Here is the list of the cast of the movie and how this influences the future of the MCU.
Returning MCU Heroes
The people are eagerly waiting for the return of some of their favorite Avengers. Below has been confirmed to return cast:
- Chris Hemsworth as Thor
- Anthony Mackie as Captain America (Sam Wilson)
- Danny Ramirez as Falcon (Joaquin Torres)
- Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier
- Paul Rudd as Ant-Man
- Tom Hiddleston as Loki
- Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther
- Winston Duke as M'Baku
Among the largest surprises is Robert Downey Jr.'s reprisal of Doctor Doom, a stunning switch from the character he portrayed earlier as Iron Man. His evil persona will be the most looked-forward-to role in Avengers: Doomsday.
X-Men Join the Battle
Marvel is reintroducing old-school X-Men characters to battle for (or against) the Avengers. The X-Men cast that have been officially confirmed are:
- Patrick Stewart as Professor X
- Ian McKellen as Magneto
- Kelsey Grammer as Beast
- Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler
- James Marsden as Cyclops
- Channing Tatum as Gambit
- Rebecca Romijn as Mystique
These are huge leaps towards bringing mutants into the grand MCU.
The Fantastic Four Joins the Avengers
Marvel's first family, The Fantastic Four, also features prominently in Avengers: Doomsday:
- Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic
- Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman
- Joseph Quinn as Human Torch
- Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing
Their casting is a building block towards a better partnership of Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the cosmic realm of Marvel.
New Thunderbolts and Recruits Cast Members
Apart from the Avengers, Thunderbolts cast members and additional new recruits will be part of the cast:
- Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova
- David Harbour as Red Guardian
- Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent
- Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost
- Lewis Pullman as Bob
- Simu Liu as Shang-Chi

The new additions will introduce new dynamics and power games into the already huge Avengers team.
MCU's Journey Since Endgame
The Avengers were last seen in Avengers: Endgame (2019) where they saved the world from Thanos but lost valuable heroes like Iron Man, Captain America (Steve Rogers), and Black Widow. Since then, new heroes have joined the MCU like Shang-Chi and the Eternals, setting the ground for this next massive crossover event.
Downey Jr.'s return as Doctor Doom was initially announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, and his dark presence will certainly provoke the Avengers' new team.
Joe and Anthony Russo, the geniuses behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Civil War, and the recently released two Avengers films, are big league returning to helm Avengers: Doomsday. With them, the film is going to consist of the same high-stakes and suspense-filled action which has been the gold standard in previous Avengers movies.

Both these movies will set the groundwork for the conditions of Avengers: Doomsday, stepping into what is going to be an ultimate battle.
With an all-star cast, the return of the Russo brothers, and the highly anticipated addition of the X-Men and Fantastic Four, Avengers: Doomsday is set to be a historic entry in the MCU. Fans will have to wait until 2026 to witness the next epic Avengers battle, but anticipation is already off the charts.
